It is said that in the early 60s, in the icy mountains of Monte Carlo, a very small car was going to challenge the laws of physics… and the pride of the big engines.
A car so compact that the mechanics almost carried it at arm's length.
A car that was looked down upon... until it overtook everyone.
This 1968 Mini Cooper S Mk2 is one of those that carry within it a piece of history: the spirit of Monte Carlo, the fervor of the snowy special stages, the timeless charm of victorious little English cars.
A faithful replica (car assembled by Gary Corpe) of a real factory Works, the model we present has been fully restored by us while maintaining maximum authenticity, the result is simply stunning!
Under the hood, we find the 1275 S "Thick" engine bored out to 1293cc, and since we don't do things halfway at MMR, we took the opportunity to add some horsepower (originally a Works model produced 90). Here's a brief summary of this build:
– Straight-cut gearbox, straight-cut cascade and self-locking (3.9 final drive)
– Forged +20 pistons and forged connecting rods
– Nitrided crankshaft
– Cylinder head prepared with 37×31 single-groove valves and double valve springs
– Forged rocker arm assembly 1.4
– Race camshaft and adjustable double timing chain
– Lightweight flywheel
– Weber Split
– Complete exhaust system
The running gear has also been upgraded compared to the time, the front and rear are adjustable in all directions (caster, camber, parallelism) and sport suspensions have been installed.
The interior, on the other hand, is entirely original and faithful down to the last detail to an original Works.
Just getting behind the wheel of this little rocket is enough to realize how brave the driver (and co-driver!) were! Back then, the roll cage was truly ridiculous, and the slightest accident could have cost the crew their lives…
We are offering you a piece of history here, and most certainly a rare opportunity to get behind the wheel of such a legend.
